Fau Cisco Webex

Online (FAU Cisco Webex Meetings) Planning for transportation involves several different disciplines to accommodate population growth, improve mobility, and advance the economy. It is a complex process that should consider social and economic aspects which shapes how a community or city grows. Webex is aware of the issue and is currently implementing a fix, however, there has not been a timeline of when this will be resolved. In the meantime, webex users can access webex by going directly to and if sharing the webex link with students is required, please follow these instructions.

FMRI Webinar: FMRI Research on Home Deliveries Equity and New Technologies under the COVID-19 Pandemic

FMRI & ITE FAU Student Chapter Lecture Series
April 28, 2021, 2 PM (EST)
Online (FAU Cisco Webex Meetings)

The ongoing COVID-19 pandemic has resulted in changes of traditional shopping behavior. When travel restrictions are imposed, home deliveries have changed from being a desirable luxury or comfortable solution to a health-supporting and essential service for many COVID-19 at-risk populations. This webinar will feature two presentations related to FMRI research on home deliveries equity and new technologies under the COVID-19 pandemic. The first presentation will address contactless package deliveries and Autonomous Delivery Robots (ADRs). This study addresses the need for research on public acceptance of ADRs and offers a detailed analysis of consumer preferences, trust, attitudes, and willingness to pay (WTP) using a representative consumer survey in Portland. The second presentation addresses inequalities in terms of access to home deliveries. It overviews the estimation of exploratory and confirmatory models with latent variables utilizing data collected from an online survey representative of the population in the Portland metropolitan region. Presented by Dr. Sabya Mishra, Associate Professor at the University of Memphis, and Dr. Miguel Figliozzi, Professor at Portland State University.

FMRI Webinar: Resilience of Intermodal Transportation Infrastructure Under Multiple Hazards

Co-hosted by the WTS FAU Student Chapter
March 3, 2021, 1 PM (EST)
Online (FAU Cisco Webex Meetings)

This presentation poses multi-hazard risk and resilience assessment frameworks for transportation infrastructure, such as ports, highway and railway infrastructure exposed to earthquake and hurricane hazards. Resilience assessment of intermodal freight networks is emphasized leveraging case study examples that probe the potential for damage, impact of mitigation, and cascading social or economic consequences. In the process, this talk will explore recent advances, challenges and opportunities with respect to resilience modeling of infrastructure portfolios and distributed systems. Presented by Dr. Jamie E. Padgett, Professor in the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering at Rice University. Her research focuses on risk assessment of structures and infrastructure, and the subsequent quantification of resilience and sustainability in the face of multiple hazards.

FMRI Webinar: Traffic Impacts of the COVID-19 Pandemic: International Analysis of Social Separation and Activity Restriction

FMRI & ITE FAU Student Chapter Lecture Series
February 10, 2021, 1 PM (EST)
Online (FAU Cisco Webex Meetings)

This presentation overviews a research project that assesses, compares, and contrasts the impact of COVID-19 activity restrictions on road-based transportation activity in regions of the US, Sweden, and China. Roadway traffic volumes were used to relate the progression of reported COVID-19 cases and government directives for social separation in three countries with diverse governmental responses. Among the contributions of this paper was the illustration of the timeline and level of public responses to closures and lockdowns, as represented through rapid traffic decreases, across the study countries. This research provides insights for practitioners, researchers, and government entities developing and accessing plans for future pandemics. Presented by Dr. Scott Parr, assistant professor at Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University in the Department of Civil Engineering.
