Oddcast Dsp

Step 1 - Install Winamp

I see this plugin verry usefull. It is nice replacement for shoutcast DSP which most of us are using succesfully but this one supports OGG vorbis streaming as well. And OGG vorbis is the thing that makes this plugin better for me than shoutcast DSP is. Scientific atlanta driver download. So once again: I need help using oddcast v3 winamp 3.0.4 with winamp 5.05 installed.

  1. Feb 06, 2001 Oddcast DSP is also from Oddsock but it is a source for a shoutcast server and is used to send a stream to server. It works like shoutcast dsp-plugin, but has an own codec.
  2. Download and install the DSP. This DSP plugin is actually a small program that runs within Winamp. Now run Winamp and goto it's preferences menu (press ctrl-p). Select DSP/Effect on the left, and oddcast DSP on the right.

Download and install Winamp (if you don’t already have it installed). Winamp is a free download.

Step 2 - Install the Edcast DSP Plugin and lame_enc.dll

Download the Edcast Plugin for Winamp and install it. This is a free plugin for Winamp that lets you stream out to the Internet.

Download the LAME MP3 encoding plugin (lame_enc.dll) and place it into your Winamp folder. Do this by right clicking the link and choosing “Save Link As…”, then navigate into ‘C: Program Files (x86) Winamp’ before clicking the Save button.

Step 3 - Start Winamp and the Edcast DSP Plugin

  • Start Winamp
  • Press Ctrl - P (Ctrl and P keys together) - This will open the settings page.
  • (1) Click ‘DSP/Effect’ on the left column - you may need to scroll down.
  • (2) Select ‘edcast DSP v3’ - a window called ‘edcast’ will appear.

Step 4 - Set up the encoder

  • (3) Click the ‘Add Encoder’ button
  • (4) Right-click the new encoder that appears below it
  • (5) Choose ‘Configure’ from the menu that appears

In the ‘Basic Settings’ section, set up the encoder.

  • (6) Enter your chosen bitrate - this must be equal or lower than the rate you purchased.
  • (7) Enter your samplerate - Enter 44100 for bitrates above 96, or 22050 for streams below 96.
  • (8) Number of channels - Enter 2 for bitrates above 48, choose 1 for bitrates below 48.
  • (9) Select the ‘MP3 Lame’ encoder
  • (10) Select ‘Icecast2’ for Icecast server, or ‘Shoutcast’ for Shoutcast server.
  • (11) Enter the host name of your server.
  • (12) Enter the port number of your server.
  • (13) Enter the DJ or Admin password of your server.
  • (14) (Icecast2 only) Enter the mount point - this will usually be /stream by default for Fast Serv Icecast2 servers.
  • In the ‘YP Settings’ section, enter your station details.
  • Click ‘OK’

Step 5 - Start encoding

  • (15) Tick the ‘AutoReconnect’ box
  • (16) Hilite the new encoder, then click the ‘Connect’ button
  • You should see information about the encoder status in the ‘Transfer Rate’ column. If it’s working properly, a numeric value will appear indicating the transmission speed.

Notes

  • If you are unable to connect, go back to step 4 and double check every server setting. You must also make sure there is music playing in Winamp.
  • You can also stream audio directly from your sound card input (or other audio device on your PC). Click the box with an ‘X’ in it under ‘Live Recording’. You can then select the audio device you wish to capture audio from.

You’re now streaming live on the Internet!

Install and setup of a streaming serverunder Windows

Youneedthese three free programs:

  1. Winamp 5.0 Lite (music player). http://www.winamp.com
  2. Oddcast (sound source plugin to Winamp). http://www.oddsock.org/tools/
Oddcast is only for Windows. See 3rd party applications at icast2 site for Linux alternative.
  3. Icecast (sound server)http://www.icecast.org/

Install the applications in the same order as this list. Use defaultoptions during installation.

Setup

In Winamp press ctrl+P and you enter Winamp preferences. Under Plug-insDSP/Effects you should see Oddcast as plugin in Winamp. Oddcast start up as aseparate window when you start Winamp.

Oddcast looks like this. It tries to connect to streaming server(Icecast), so you have to start the Icecast Server. When the streaming server isup running there should be a transfer rate around 100 Kbps.

Oddcast

The decoder used is Vorbis, quality level is set to 5, sample rate is44100 Hz. Source is Line In. By clicking on the microphone picture you canchange source back to what Winamp is playing. The microphone picture thenchange, with a red cross on top.

HighlightVorbis . encoder. Right click and choose configure. Then the configurationwindow appear:

Oddcast setup

Thesesettings must match settings on Icecast radio server. In YP Settings disablePublic Server. In advanced settings do not save archive of stream.

Icecast isa standalone program. The main window starts the server. Check for start serverat application startup.

Icecast main window

Stop theserver and choose Configuration on the menu. A text file is opened. The setupof Icecast is defined in a xml file. Here is a copy of it, after I have changedit.

NB! Theencoder password of Oddcast must match the source-password of Icecast.

Also thehostname and server port must be the same for the two programs. And sources ofIcecast must match channels of Oddcast

In anotherPC start e.g. Winamp, choose add URL of your radio station. For example:

http://129.177.55.115:8000/stream.oggwhen ip of the streaming server is129.177.55.115 and you use port 8000.

It will notwork with Internet Explorer, it will start downloading as if it was a file tosave on your computer. You can probably change the MIME settings of yourbrowser so that .ogg is recognised as a sound file.

In Windowsthere is a volume control icon on the lower right corner of the screen. Theicon looks like a loudspeaker. Here you change volume of the play back ofsound. Choosing Options | Properties and entering Recording Control you canselect the sound source and volume of if.

The soundinput source to Ishmael is determined by the Recording mixer setting.

In WindowsRecording Control select stereo mix as sound source.
